You may already have groups using meeting space at your library that might be excellent target audiences for Affordable Care Act information. Ask to attend a meeting to share changes in patients’ rights, which agencies can help resolve IRS questions related to health insurance, etc. Such groups might include:

• care provider support groups;

• social groups for populations of elderly, persons with disabilities, and/or their family members; and

• adult and family literacy participants.

Open your presentation by listening to the group’s expectations of the information they might find helpful and then move forward with the information they need and want. Don’t promise to help solve their concerns but do help connect them to the best resources for their current connection needs.

Working through the connections occasioned by your awareness of community expectations, the continuing unfolding of aspects of the Affordable Care Act, and ethics involved in your library work, you can move on to the next chapters, which address ways of making health-care library value a reality.
